Optimization of ESA for Velocity Distribution Measurement Based on Cross-correlation Sensitivity Weighting Method

The electrostatic sensor array (ESA) is widely used for gas-solid two-phase flow measurement in many industries. However, the measurement of particle velocity distribution based on the electrostatic tomography (EST) technology faces serious ill-conditioned problems since the ESA has fewer independent information as a passive measurement method. Thus, according to cross-correlation (CC) focus method, a particle velocity distribution measurement method based on the weighted CC sensitivity distribution was proposed. Then, two optimization indexes, i.e. the intensity and uniformity of ESA sensitivity field and the correlation coefficient of reconstruction velocity distribution, were presented to optimize the ESA geometric parameters including the number and axial length of electrodes. Finally, a velocity distribution measurement system with optimized ESA is built and validated by a belt-style electrostatic induction experiment facility.
