Introducing the Organization of Transport Studies

In this article the Department of Transportation and Geo-Information Engineering as part of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Technion- Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa is described. A number of recent studies conducted by the Instituted are provided. These are a novel crash prediction model, an in-vehicle data recorder analysis, a method of design for perpetual flexible pavements in the region, capacity prediction using stochastic and statistical methods, and a household location choice semi-compensatory model. The areas covered by this Institute’s transportation division include the design of facilities related to transportation, the planning of transportation ventures, and the analysis of pavement materials and pavement design. The faculty is particularly interested in areas such as transportation modeling methods, traffic control, geometric design of traffic flow, and highway design models.
