Miniaturized single band microwave fractal meander dipole antenna and its tunable configurations

Tunable antennas and single band tunable antenna have received great attention for cognitive radio (CR) applications [1]-[2]. As applications are space limited, it is challenging to design an antenna of small size but with simple tunable feature. Koch curve has been shown to reduce the size of a reconfigurable antenna that exhibits omni-directional pattern and has wide half-power beam width (HPBW) feature [3]. The technique is enhanced to remove the higher order mode as well as reduce the antenna size [4]. The antenna offers similar excellent performance despite reduced balun size. Its electrical features are suitable for user terminal applications.
