RESOURCES FOR TEACHING BUILDING ENERGY SIMULATION

This paper describes a variety of training courses that have been created for the EnergyPlus program. EnergyPlus is a whole-building energy analysis simulation program developed under the auspices of the United States Department of Energy. The four different training courses outlined in this paper include a beginner course for engineers with little or no experience in simulation, an “experienced user” course for simulators familiar with other programs, an advanced course for users who want to investigate some of the more sophisticated features of the program, and an university course for students that provides both an introduction to buildings and to simulation. For each course, an overview of the lecture material and problems/workshops that are part of the course as well as the philosophy and availability of the course will be provided. Experiences in using these materials will also be presented
