The Role of CAD in Education and Research

Abstract The paper presents results of a survey of the use of computeraided design packages for education and research in some North American universities. The replies are discussed and indicate that although some use is being made of computers for instruction in control theory and design of control systems at a significant number of institutions, few have made a major commitment to this form of education. The reasons for this situation and the possibilities of future developments in the field are discussed.
