AN INTRODUCTION TO NETWORK MODELS USED IN TRANSPORTATION PLANNING

The user optimal and systems optimal models of route choice in transportation networks are formulated, and their mathematical properties described. Solution algorithms for fixed and variable demand versions of this model are studied. Network models with constant travel costs are also presented. The application of these models in various practical contexts is described and qualified. (TRRL)
