Fire resistance of concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns

Publisher Summary The chapter discusses the fire resistance of concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns. The outer skin and the inner skin are made of circular hollow sections (CHS). Finite element method is applied for the calculations of temperature fields of concrete-filled double skin steel tubes under fire conditions. A theoretical model that calculates deformations and strength of a beam-column in fire, and fire resistance of composite columns is described in the chapter. Based on the theoretical model, a parametric analysis is performed on the fire resistance of concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns. The influences of changing parameters on the temperature fields and fire resistance of the beam-column are analyzed in the chapter. The theoretical model described in the chapter may also be used to provide data on necessary fire protection measures for the concrete-filled double skin steel tubular columns.
