Remote Laboratory for an Industrial Robot

This paper presents a web-based remote laboratory for the programming of an industrial robot. Due to the high cost of acquisition, a reduced number of units are available for training at universities. The proposed solution enables the remote access to an industrial robot at any time and place. Using a web browser, the student can access the learning environment; the program is uploaded to the robot system as in the real lab, allowing the execution of proposed lab exercises and the control of the robot system. A webcam provides the student visual feedback of the robot movements. The robot platform includes a sensor table and a magnetic tool in the robot arm for robot position checking. The system offers robot usage, program testing, and provides an evaluation of their execution, indicating if the robot has moved to the correct position and reporting a final verification of successful completion
