L'A. reprend la classification des mots composes de Jespersen en trois classes prototypiques : (1) repetition de la meme syllabe (ex. boo-boo), (2) changement de la consonne initiale (ex: hocus-pocus), (3) changement de voyelle (ex: mish-mash). Il analyse la relation entre la forme et l'accent dans les mots composes de ces trois classes
