An analysis of semantic modeling components for integrating disparate databases

An investigation was conducted into the logical connectivity of disparate databases for supporting a composite information access environment within which the strategic functions or activities of cross system inquiry and reporting are possible. The authors present an analysis of semantic modeling components for the purpose of integrating disparate databases for supporting composite access. A set of primitives and constructs of semantic data models are identified and analyzed. These can provide a basis for a reasonable comparison and integration of different semantic data models. The ability to access disparate databases for composite queries by a unified view of relevant data objects from different databases is practical. A potential approach to semantic integration for supporting composite information accesses is discussed.<<ETX>>
