FAULT DETECTION AND ISOLATION FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM USING UNKNOWN INPUT OBSERVERS

Automatic flight control systems fairly lighten the pilots' workloads. However, in these systems, sensors, actuators and the control surface failures can cause undesirable results to arise such as aircraft accident. It can be possible to tolerate the failures in flight control systems by using what is known in literature as fault tolerant control which makes the operations of systems possible against some types of failures. In the decision making process of the control system, the detection and isolation of the failure can be performed by using observer which analyses the difference between the real and estimated conditions. Herein, an application is made for the sensor fault detection and isolation of an aircraft by unknown input observer equipment for lateral movement. Also, the simplicity provided by modelling eliminates the hardware redundancy needed.
