Nowadays most of product designs are "redesign". Product design is a process of iterations, which brings cost and delay. In order to shorten the design time, some unnecessary iteration should be avoided. For eliminating unnecessary iterations, a new knowledge reuse model based on design iteration records was proposed in this paper. In this model, design knowledge is represented through the records of the iteration history in which relevant information, such as design intent, design rules, design feedbacks are embedded or linked with the design results. This kind of representation schema can help designers in their design tasks to avoid repetition of failures through the linkage of former failures/success experiences with design iterations. In the final of this paper, we discussed the representation schema of the design iterations through OWL, and a case of using the former records is discussed.
