Speed Control of a Cascade Induction Motor With Three Sets of Converters in its Secondary Circuit

This paper describes principles and an analytical and experimental study of a cascade induction motor with three sets of converters which was devised by one of the authors. Steady state analysis of performance of the motor system running with a typical operating mode in varieties of modes of the cascade induction machine is discussed, and test results of a testing equipment including two induction machines, converters and other apparatus for the study are presented. It is found that an available large output of the motor can be controlled widely and efficiently by controlling the converter connected directly with the electric source.
