A 100,000 gauss superconducting solenoid

A superconducting coil was constructed which created a field of 101,000 gauss and a current of 266 amp at 1.8 deg K. The coil was wound from 600 ft of a 0.027-in. dia tin-clad niobium conductor and heated for 4 hr at 950 deg C. (D.L.C.)
