Structure and properties of plasma polymerized and 4-ethylbenzenesulfonic acid-doped polypyrrole films

Abstract An attempt has been made to study the structural and electrical properties of plasma polymerized and 4-ethylbenzenesulfonic acid-doped polypyrrole films. In order to realize the doping with 4-ethylbenzenesulfonic acid, the plasma-polymerization of pyrrole films were vacuum sealed in glass tube with 4-ethylbenzenesulfonic acid and heat-treated. A comparative study of the infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis and UV–Vis spectroscopy give information that some pyrrole rings are decomposed to form a three-dimensional network. The doping of 4-ethylbenzenesulfonic acid considerably increases the conductivity of the plasma polymerized pyrrole films.
