An effective history conference

In order to hold an effective computing history conference it is first necessary to understand why the problems of doing so are different from holding any other type of computing conference. I particularly contrast this with a conference reporting on current work. I will not list problems that are common to all conferences (e.g., getting material done on time, preparing publicity).
