Active Control and Inherently Safe Operation in Advanced SMRs

A strategy that ensures active control systems cannot override or compromise passive safety and that power generation goals are still met is described. The approach places an increased reliance on passive feedbacks to regulate plant operation. The tradeoffs this strategy entails are assessed through dynamic simulation studies of a liquid-metal cooled advanced SMR.Copyright © 2014 by ASME
