The Real-Time Global Supply Chain Game: New Educational Tool for Developing Supply Chain Management Professionals

This article studies the use of management simulation games used in higher education settings for preparing supply chain leaders in meeting the challenges of a global economy. It first describes the attributes needed by supply chain mangers to achieve performance excellence. The article next gives an overview of simulation games that are currently used for developing supply chain skills. It also discusses the limitations of these games. The article then presents the Global Supply Chain game, an Internet-mediated, real-time game that is offered as an alternative to existing approaches for educating supply chain professionals.
