Issues in the planning of broadband ATM networks

The CCITT has already agreed that ATM is the target transfer mode for future broadband networks and the paper considers some of the major issues in the planning of such networks. An attempt has been made to introduce the basic capabilities of ATM when used as an IBCN and to explain where this differs from more conventional techniques. Initially the paper considers issues of routeing and interworking with mobile networks; it then goes on to consider numbering and addressing, and charging for broadband ATM networks. >
