FPGADesign of Single-phaseMatrixConverter Operating asCycloconverter

Thispaperisconcerned onFPGA design for controlimplementations of the Single-Phase Matrix Converter (SPMC)operating asa Cycloconverter. The Sinusoidal PulseWidthModulation (SPWM)technique is usedtosynthesize theoutput voltage. Thepowercircuit uses theInsulated GateBipolar Transistor (IGBT)asswitching device intheSPMC implementation. Safe-commutation strategy wasincorporated tosolve switching transients. A Xilinx Field Programmable GateArray(FPGA)wasusedat theheartofthecontrol electronics, implemented toverify operation withselected simulation andexperimental results presented.
