An empirical study on quality management practices in Shanghai manufacturing industries

This paper reports the main findings based on the survey study of 71 Shanghai manufacturers conducted in 1998. The survey aims to investigate the current quality management practices in Shanghai manufacturing industries. In this study, we focused on several relationships, such as the relationship between total quality management (TQM) practices and business results, between ISO 9000 standards and TQM, and between employee involvement and TQM results, etc. The result of this study is surely useful for further improvement of Shanghai quality management practice and interesting for the people who are concerned with the current situation of quality management in Shanghai manufacturing industry.
