Quality control design for a single product manufacturing system subject to inspection error

Abstract The model consists of Single-Product Multi-Component Multi-Stage System (SPMCMS) in which either Lot-by-Lot (LBL) Sampling; or Continuous Sampling (CSP-1) may be used. The system represents a typical situation in industry where several components or raw materials enter a manufacturing system and the final output is one product. Semi-economic sampling plans (LBL and CSP-1), average incoming quality levels, manufacturing and assembly quality levels are derived for an interrelated system using dynamic programming. The effects of type one and type two inspection error are addressed in both types of sampling plans.
