There are many books and lots of training available which describe the work and tools of CE. This book describes a great deal about the context in which CE resides, and the process for making CE happen. In Part I, the authors work through a model showing the context in which CE takes place. Chapter 2 provides an overview of the whole model. Chapter 3 focuses on the Work Processes of CE. Chapter 4 describes the internal organizational context for CE. Chapter 5 discusses people issues. Chapter 6 describes the role of the supply chain along with mechanisms for linking with these external organizations. And Chapter 7 discusses the technological context for CE. For each of those topics the authors discuss choices which need to be made in order to provide a suitable context for CE, as well as best practices and lessons learned. The last chapter in Part I provides a model with a tool called the CE Profile. This detailed discussion provides conceptual frameworks and models for the analysis and design methodology. In Part II, the book provides directions for working through a process of changing from a current product development process to a
