Current regenerative Schmitt triggers with tunable hysteresis

A new current-regenerative Schmitt trigger is proposed and its characteristics are quantified both analytically and numerically. The center and width of the hysteresis of the proposed Schmitt trigger can be tuned. The low-impedance of the critical nodes of the Schmitt trigger enables it to operate at high frequencies. The proposed Schmitt trigger has been designed in TSMC-0.18µm 1.8V CMOS technology and analyzed using Spectre from Cadence Design Systems with BSIM3V3 device models. Simulation results are presented.
