Comparative study of interconnection schemes of modules in solar PV array network

Partial Shading is one of the major determinants of power reduction in solar PV array network. In recent years, different interconnection schemes namely Series-Parallel (SP), Bridge Linked (BL) and Total Cross Tied (TCT) have been proposed and tested by several authors. In this paper, the relative merit of these schemes under different shading patterns and irradiance is investigated using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The reduction in power quoted by manufacturer is investigated, in particular. Experimental results of a prototype setup in field condition are provided. It is found that TCT interconnection scheme exhibits significant improvement in power losses.
