** Abstract - This paper presents a parametric design of a magnetic sensor using hall IC for linear machine. This sensor is used in the measurement of position and also moving direction applied for transverse flux linear motors (TFLM). The aim of the design which based on two-dimensional finite element analysis (2D FEA) is to obtain the sinusoidal flux density distribution with total harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 3% and peak flux density (PFD) of higher than 0.1T. The final design for magnetic sensor is quite satisfactory with the THD of 1.04% and PFD of 0.117T.
