Comparison between PI and fuzzy logic type-1 controllers for improvement the power quality by a shunt active power filter five-level NPC topology

This article presents two methods for the compensation of harmonics generated by a nonlinear load. The first is the classical PI controller. The second is the modern controller by Fuzzy logic Type-1. Both methods are applied to a shunt Active Power Filter (sAPF) based on a three-phase voltage converter at five levels NPC topology in series with P-Q algorithm. The results give us clear that the rate of Harmonic Distortion issued by Fuzzy Logic Type-1 is better than PI controller and the power factor is corrected with application the sAPF.
