Person counting method and device for same

Disclosed are a person counting method and a device for same. A head candidate, which is a round outline at only the point at which the outline of the foreground within an image frame passes a reference line, is detected; and head candidates passing through a search region are counted. Thus, a method and a device for same are provided which can count people based on the detected number of heads, with more accuracy and a low error rate.
