Factors influencing implementation of a dry port: the case of Port Botany’s hinterland

The purpose of this study is to investigate and define impediments to a close dry port implementation. Case studies through interviews have been carried out and the data for the case studies are collected at Port Botany, Sydney, and its close intermodal terminals. The most common factors that impede dry port implementation are identified: infrastructure, land use, environment and regulations. The same reduce the efficiency of freight movements on land access routes to and from seaports.
