Computer training for staff and patrons: a comprehensive academic model

This article describes a staff and patron training program that is being piloted at College Library, the undergraduate library of the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Our program goal was to develop a program that was both prescriptive and flexible in nature, allowing us to modify our modules based on the intended audience. In this article, we will review the major considerations and components that must be taken into account in designing an effective staff and user training program, addressing issues ranging from assessment to implementation to program evaluation.
