Conversion of a gasoline spark ignition engine to alcohol fuel

Simple modifications were made to a gasoline engine to permit the use of alcohol as the fuel. The modifications included shielding the intake manifold, heating the fuel prior to carburetion, increasing the size of the carburetor jets and advancing the timing. The engine was then used to drive an irrigation pump and generator for a center pivot irrigation system. No problems were encountered after 400 hours of use. 1 ref.
