Analysis of airborne POLDER data on boreal forest covers

POLDER (POLarization and Directionality of the Earth's Reflectance) airborne measurements were obtained during the BOREAS experiment. In a first approach, a BRDF model is tested against POLDER data acquired over the Old Aspen site, and its biophysical parameters (LAI, f/sub IPAR/) compared to local observations. A second approach consists in mapping parameters retrieved by inversion of a semi-empirical model on data acquired at 100 m resolution on a region 5 km wide surrounding the Young Jack Pine site. This demonstrates the ability of airborne POLDER experiment to retrieve the angular signature on every point of an extended region.
