내진 보강용 SAFE댐퍼와 철근 콘크리트 보의 접합부 성능평가

Recently, the frequent occurrence of earthquake in Korea has increased awareness about earthquake. Seismic design standards in Korea were established in 1988, and today there are many buildings which are covered by these standards. But there are many buildings which are not covered by these standards and it is suggested to enhance such building by seismic retrofitting. To improve the seismic performance of existing buildings, retrofitting methods using reinforced concrete (RC) shear walls and steel bracings are the main types used in Korea. And various types of dampers have also been developed and practically applied. A recently developed hybrid damping system, called a SAFE damper, uses a friction damper and a metallic damper which are activated in stages. The advantages of this system include a high-efficiency, the ability to minimize damage to the building’s appearance and lighting, and a low life-cycle cost. In this study, Experiments were performed to assess suitability of SAFE damper for seismic retrofitting of buildings designed before the code was modified.
