On optimal detection of non-coherent trellis coded continuous phase modulation signals: discriminator detection

A novel sequential decoder for trellis-coded signals, using discriminator detection, is proposed. The decoder is based on optimal detection principles and is able to eliminate the presence of click noise. Evaluation when applied on a simple trellis-coded scheme indicated improvements up to 5.4 dB. To accommodate various requirements of complexity, two different approaches to implement the decoder are presented.<<ETX>>
