Carbon tubes produced during high-energy ball milling process

Abstract Carbon nanotubes having diameters of 10–300 nm and lengths up to several micrometers have been fabricated from graphite powder by high-energy ball milling. Due to the impact of milling balls, the graphite sheets were curled into tubes during the milling process. The formation mechanism of the present carbon tubes is completely different from that of all current carbon nanotubes.
