A Simplified Method for Design of Microirrigation Laterals

A simplified method is developed for designing microirrigation laterals using the lateral flow rate equation. All hydraulic analysis were performed using the back step and forward step methods. When required average emitter discharge rate, required uniformity of water application, and one parameter — either the lateral length or diameter, are given, the unknown parameter, best submain position (paired laterals), and the operating pressure head can be accurately designed using a personal computer. It was found that the calculation procedure is simple, fast, and easily programmed for computer calculation.
