A modal analysis method is developed to study the bending‐wave transmission in inter‐connected rectangular plates in mid‐ or high‐frequency ranges. The response of the connected plate is described in terms of the modes of the single plate as if each plate were separated by assuming the moments arising at the junctions as external forces. The moments are determined from the equilibrium of the moments and the continuity of the slope at the junctions. The present method does not impose any limitations on the number of connected plates and connection type provided that the directions of the connections are in parallel and the lengths of the connections are equal. The double infinite modal summations are transformed into one finite modal summation only in transverse direction by employing closed forms. It is shown that the driving point mobility of the excited plate approaches that of an infinite plate as frequency becomes higher regardless of the connected plates. The spatially averaged velocities are also co...
