there is provided an apparatus (10) for the incremental control of at least one first DC motor (12) for a cooling fan of a motor vehicle with a first (14) and a second current-limiting component (16) and having a first (22), a second (24) and a third switching means (28). The device is characterized in that the switching means (22, 24, 28) the first (14) and the second current-limiting component (16) so wired that a cooling power of the cooling fan can be varied in at least four non-zero levels.
