Design and implementation of a low-latency, high-throughput sorted QR decomposition circuit for MIMO communications

This paper presents the design and implementation of a high-throughput Sorted QR Decomposition (SQRD) circuit for MIMO communication systems. The proposed design is architected based on a novel pipelined Givens Rotation structure comprising of multi-dimension CORDIC elements. Furthermore, this circuit reduces the excessive delays of norm-calculations and sorting operations, and thus the time efficiency is greatly improved. The implemented circuit has been synthesized, placed, and routed and the post-layout estimation results have shown that the proposed SQRD architecture achieves a significantly enhanced processing throughput compared to the prior arts.
