Wave-Particle Duality: Recent Proposals for the Detection of Empty Waves

The idea is discussed that objectively real quantum waves exist that propagate in space and time, as originally proposed by Einstein and de Broglie. Recent proposals of radically new experiments are reviewed: Their key idea is that quantum waves are also probabilistic in a new sense, that of actively modifying probabilities of atomic events. The experiments with the photon amplifier and with the neutron interferometer seem indeed to be feasable.
