Salinger Studies in North America and in China *

J. D. Salinger and his works have received much interest and popularity among readers and critics during the past sixty years. This paper aims to sort out the critical studies of Salinger’s works in North America and in China according to different periods divided and such a conclusion can thus be made, that is, Salinger studies have achieved and progressed a lot in both America and China, with more literary theories employed and increasing depth reached, but there are still some aspects that can be done better on, including the study of his uncollected short stories, Salinger’s biography and epistle study and the influences of eastern thoughts on Salinger’s
