Slope value detection-based ditherless bias control technique for Mach–Zehnder modulator

Abstract. A new simple bias control scheme for Mach–Zehnder modulator is proposed. Its effectiveness is demonstrated with simulations and experiments. The results showed that this is an effective ditherless bias control technique suitable for a variety of modulation formats. The system bit error rate performance has been observed for 72 h without degradation.
