Cyclic Load Behavior of Concrete‐Filled Tubular Braces

Cyclic load behavior of concrete-filled rectangular steel tubular bracing members is investigated. Nine full-scale specimens made from A500 Grade B cold-formed steel tubes were tested under quasi-static cyclic loading. The main parameters of the study are: 1) presence of concrete; 2) strength of concrete; 3) effective slenderness ratio; and 4) width-thickness ratio. General cyclic behavior and modes of failure of the specimens are presented. Based on the observations of the behavior of test specimens two procedures are given to compute the first buckling load for such bracing members.
