Design of a computer vision based tree ring dating system

The purpose of this paper is to describe the design and implementation of a computer vision based analysis system for dendrochronology. The issues involved in the detection and analysis of tree rings are not unique to the application, but are likely of interest to anyone developing automated image analysis systems.
