A Network-Based Manufacturing Management System

Abstract Today the industrial production steps over the walls of the individual enterprises, so new management approaches are needed to be able to co-ordinate the work of the different manufacturing organisations. A new manufacturing network model is proposed for balancing the production while maximising the profit of a group of SMEs, based on the holonic paradigm. The model has been developed in the frame of an ESPRIT Project by four countries. The paper describes an application of the model under realisation in Hungary, in an agricultural SME network, producing seeds and oil from seeds.
