Comparison between experiments and predictions based on maximum entropy for sprays from a pressure atomizer

Abstract Measurements were made of the droplet size and velocity distributions in a hollow cone spray from a pressure atomizer using a phase/Dopler particle analyzer. The maximum entropy principle is used to predict these distributions. The constraints imposed in this model involve conversation of mass, momentum, and energy. Estimates of the source terms associated with these constrains are made based on physical reasoning. Agreement between the measurements and the predictions is very good.
