Design and implementation of low-cost emulators for microprocessors

Abstract Most emulators currently available require a fairly complex host for their operation. The paper considers a low-cost software-intensive approach to emulator design for a variety of microprocessors. The (minimal) hardware requirements are described; then the software and operation of the emulator are discussed in detail. The execution of various types of command is analysed. Finally, the implementation of the emulator design is summarized.
