Energy storage for small and micro combined heat and power (CHP) systems

Abstract: Several types of energy storage technologies are described and assessed for their suitability for applications alongside CHP systems. The technical and commercial requirements are described. Distributed energy storage is also a means of providing grid or network services which can provide an additional economic benefit from the storage device. Electrical energy storage is shown to be a complementary technology to CHP systems and may also be considered in conjunction with, or as an alternative to, thermal energy storage.
