Load-carrying capacity of high steel ratio SRC columns used in New CCTV Building

Behavior of steel reinforced concrete(SRC) columns used in New CCTV Building was investigated theoretically in this paper.The calculation models,analytical methods and influences of parameters on SRC columns were focused.It is found that the high steel ratio SRC columns′ behavior is similar to that of the short columns when their slenderness ratios range within the common used cases,and have higher strength and ductility when they are loaded under a higher compression ratio.It was pointed out that the calculation models and analytical methods described in this study are appropriately used to study the behavior of high steel ratio SRC columns and the simplified sectional fiber method can be used to analysis the SRC columns′ static load-carrying capacity.It is proposed from a lot of numerical analysis results obtained in accordance with different analytical methods that the steel ratio of 15% may be the cut-off point between high steel ratio and ordinary steel ratio SRC columns.All these conclusions will provide a theoretical basis for further researches and applications of high steel ratio SRC columns.
