On vector transformation

It has been shown that a vector transform is a good tool for digital filtering and image coding. This paper addresses some of the issues related to vector transforms. First, a fundamental difference between vector transforms and conventional transforms is examined. Second, two approaches to constructing vector transforms are discussed. Finally, an application of vector transformation to an efficient implementation of 2-D nonseparable digital filters is proposed. >
